Oct 31 One Day Sitting & Shuso Entering Ceremony

We highly encourage Practice Period participants to attend this One-Day Sitting.
This day begins our Practice Period, which is led by our Guiding Teacher, Norman Fischer. This day includes the important Shuso Entering Ceremony, where lead student, Brenda Golianu is introduced to the assembly. This day allows the Practice Period participants to practice in community and encourages us to set our intentions for a greater commitment to our practice over the coming six weeks.
We encourage you to come to this day in person, however, we will also be streaming it online for those who are not able to attend in person. Even if you are unavailable for the day, we encourage you to attend the Shuso Entering Ceremony at 1:30pm.
Your Arrival
We ask that you arrive at Kannon Do Zen Meditation Center, in Mountain View, no later than 8:45am so that you can get sign-in, find your cushion or chair for the day, and take your seat in our zendo no later than 8:55am. Our first sitting starts promptly at 9am. We have ample parking, both in our parking lot and on the street. Our zendo (meditation hall) adjoins the parking lot, and we have restrooms for your use, a courtyard for relaxing, and a sangha house for lunch.
Food
Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided. Please eat breakfast before arriving – there will be no food served until lunch at noon. Lunch will be nutritious and vegetarian, including a protein, grain, and a vegetable. Tea and cookies will be served later in the afternoon. Water will be available throughout the day.
Dana (Donation)
The suggested total contribution for the day is $50 per person. Your donation covers the cost for food, our facility, and the contribution to the teacher. If you are unable to contribute that amount, contribute whatever you can. You can provide your contribution on site by cash, check, or mobile online payment. If you wish to contribute ahead of time, you may do so via our donor box.
