I’m New
If you are interested in exploring Zen practice at Kannon Do you can simply attend any of the meditation sessions shown on the daily schedule found on our homepage. There is no need to make an appointment or call ahead. Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothes.
The best time to come for the first time is currently on Saturday mornings from 9:00–9:20am. One of the senior members will provide a brief tutorial on the posture and form of Zen meditation practiced at the center.
A more in-depth introduction is provided during the Zen Discussion Group program. These gatherings are held bi-weekly on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. This orientation includes a demonstration and discussion of the meditation posture, a tour of the center, and an opportunity to ask questions.
Membership
Participation at Kannon Do is open to all, with no requirement of membership. However, membership is a way for individuals to express a deeper relationship with Kannon Do.
There are two categories of membership:
Signatory member is one who has signed the membership book, indicating a heartfelt affinity with Kannon Do. Please contact the Ino or other senior member to sign the book.
Voting member is a signatory member whose financial contributions in the calendar year prior to a voting date equal or surpass $360. Only these members are eligible to vote in Kannon Do elections and for other matters.
Donations can be made via the Kannon Do website here. For individuals who would like to be voting members, but face financial hardship, please talk with a Board member.
