Schedule During Practice Period: October 31 – December 13, 2026
From October 31 to December 13, Kannon Do adds sittings to its regular schedule, and a few special dates change it. These changes apply to everyone, whether or not you enroll in the practice period. Items marked New are added for the practice period. Everything else continues as usual. All sittings are in person and on Zoom unless noted otherwise.
The regular schedule resumes on Monday, December 14.
Weekly schedule
Monday to Friday
- 5:30–6:10 am: Zazen, followed by coffee in the Sangha house
- New 7:30–8:00 am: Zazen and chanting
- New 9:00–11:00 am: Practice period activities (Participants)
- 12:00–12:30 pm: Noon zazen (Tuesdays and Thursday only)
- New 5:30–6:10 pm: Evening zazen
Wednesday Evening Program
- New 5:00–7:00 pm: Practice Period Dharma Seminar on the Diamond Sutra · Zoom link
- 5:00–5:30 pm: zazen
- 5:30–6:10 pm: lecture
- 6:30–7:00 pm: discussion
Saturday
- 5:30–10:10 am: normal Saturday program, unchanged except on the special dates below
- New 10:30 am–12:00 pm: Practice period activity (Participants)
Sunday
- New 7:30–8:00 am: Zazen, online only, with Everyday Zen

Saturday, October 31: Practice period opening
- 8:00 am–5:00 pm: One-day sitting, ending with the Shuso Entering Ceremony. Sign-up to be announced.
Saturday, November 21: One-day sitting
- 8:00 am–5:00 pm: Sign-up to be announced.
Tuesday, November 24: Full Moon Ceremony (Ryaku Fusatsu)
- New 7:00–8:30 pm: A traditional monthly ceremony of repentance and renewal of vows
Thursday–Sunday, December 10–13: Rohatsu Sesshin
- A multi-day retreat marking the Buddha’s enlightenment. Sign-up to be announced. Practice period participants get priority for in-person places.
Sunday, December 13: Closing
- Morning: Shuso Hossenshiki (Dharma Inquiry Ceremony) and the closing ceremony
