  • I Had a Good Teacher Book Discussion

    On Wednesday evening, August 12th, please join us for a discussion of  our abbot emeritus Les Kaye's  latest book I Had a Good Teacher. It was named by SpiritualityandPractice.com as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2025. Kigen Anna Breckenridge will lead a discussion of Chapter 5 titled The Meaning of Activity.

    In-person Dharma Talk: Myogen Neal Shorstein

    On Wednesday evening, August 19th, Myogen Neal Shorstein, ophthalmologist, researcher, and Zen Buddhist priest in the Everyday Zen sangha will give an in-person dharma talk followed by a discussion. Myogen Neal Shorstein was ordained in 2018 by Zoketsu Norman Fischer and was shuso for the Spring practice period for Everyday Zen in 2023.

    Full Moon Ceremony

    Please join us on Thursday, August 27th for an evening of ancient tradition and mindful movement under the light of the full moon.  We will begin with short 20 minute Zazen.

  • In-person Dharma Talk: Jon Voss

    On Wednesday evening, September 2nd Jon Voss, a longtime student of Tibetan Buddhism and an ordained Soto Zen priest in the Suzuki Roshi lineage, will give a dharma talk followed by a discussion. Jon Voss currently serves on the Branching Streams Advisory Panel and is an advisor to the Zen-Inspired Senior Living project.

    Board Meeting

    Please join us for a Board meeting to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5th.  Everyone is welcome.  The meeting will be in a hybrid format (in-person and online).

    In-person Dharma Talk: Heather Shōren Iarusso

    On Saturday morning, September 19th, Heather Shōren Iarusso, director of Branching Streams and a teacher at San Francisco Zen Center, will give an in-person dharma talk followed by a discussion. Heather lives at City Center and is the Branching Streams director, providing guidance and support for SFZC affiliate sanghas.

    In-person Dharma Talk: Sokaku Kathie Fischer

    On Wednesday evening, September 23rd, Sokaku Kathie Fischer, teacher at Everyday Zen Foundation, will give an in-person dharma talk followed by a discussion. Sokaku Kathie Fischer began practicing Zen in 1971 with Sojun Mel Weitsman at the Berkeley Zen Center.

    Online Dharma Talk: Ando Jaune Evans

    On Wednesday evening, September 30th Ando Jaune Evans, a priest and senior teacher in the Bay Area Everyday Zen lineage of Zoketsu Norman Fischer, will give a dharma talk followed by a discussion.
