Full Moon Ceremony & Moonlight Night Hike

Please join us on Saturday, September 26th for an evening of ancient tradition and mindful movement under the light of the full moon. There are two parts to the evening and you may join for one or both events.

Part 1: The Ceremony

– Time: 7:10 PM

– Location: Kannon Do, 1972 Rock St, Mountain View, CA 94043

The Full Moon Ceremony, known as Ryaku Fusatsu, is a sacred Buddhist tradition dating back 2,500 years. It’s rooted in Uposatha Days and is used to renew our vows and realign our intentions. We gather to practice mindfulness through physical and vocal participation. The ceremony will be led by Travis Marsot.

– Chant & Response: We’ll engage in melodic chanting. The leader will offer a line, and the community will respond, creating a meditative flow of sound.

– Prostrations: We’ll perform traditional prostrations, a practice of grounding and humility that connects our physical presence to our spiritual path.

Part 2: The Moonlight Hike

– Time: Meet at 7:40 PM in the parking lot

– Route: Permanente Creek Trail (toward Google Campus and back)

If you can’t attend the ceremony, you’re welcome to meet us at the Kannon Do parking lot at 8:35 PM to begin the hike.

– Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours.

Experience a peaceful walk to enjoy the night air and connect with the community.

What to Bring & Wear:

– Wear supportive walking or hiking shoes.

– Dress in layers as it may get chilly after sunset.

– Stay hydrated during our 90-minute stroll.
