Summer Workshop: The Healing Power of Everyday Activities in the Time of Covid-19 with Dr. Paula Arai

August 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

We are pleased to announce what promises to be an informative and exciting workshop on the healing nature of Zen rituals.

Please Join via Zoom:

https://zoom.us/j/807694090

Our presenter will be  Paula Aria, whose second book, Bringing Zen Home, focuses on the healing power of ritualized activities that are part of the daily lives of women in contemporary Japan.  Paula taught a similar workshop at Kannon Do in 2015, which was enthusiastically received.

Her background can be seen at:    https://www.sfzc.org/teachers/paula-arai-0

In this workshop, we will discover the Zen of everyday healing as we creatively explore 10 modes of engagement, including experiencing interrelatedness, expanding perspective, and creating beauty. After Dr. Arai introduces a Zen-based healing paradigm, we will form breakout groups focused on the following healing activities:

  1. Cleaning as Healing Activity
  2. Cooking as Healing Activity
  3. Caring for Others as Healing Activity
  4. Social Interactions as Healing Activity
  5. Ritualizing Time as Healing Activity

Please join us on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:30 am  (PDT).

Registration is required by Wednesday, July 29th. Please register at the following link and  please choose which of the five groups you would like to join for the breakout session.
