In-person Dharma Talk: Myogen Neal Shorstein

On Wednesday evening, May 22nd, Myogen Neal Shorstein, ophthalmologist, researcher, and Zen Buddhist priest in the Everyday Zen sangha will give an in-person dharma talk followed by a discussion.

Myogen Neal Shorstein was ordained in 2018 by Zoketsu Norman Fischer and was shuso for the Spring practice period for Everyday Zen in 2023. Neal has led meditation groups for physicians and stroke recovery patients at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, California. He has volunteered with Berkeley-based Seva Foundation sharing advanced cataract surgery skills while learning local techniques in Asia and South America since 2005. Dr. Shorstein has authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles in the field of cataract surgery and has lectured on these topics throughout the country and Europe.
