On Wednesday evening, February 4th, Chris Chapman will give an in-person Dharma talk followed by a discussion.
Chris Chapman started practicing Zen in 2001 in hopes to make the world better following the birth of his daughter soon after the events of 9-11. He practices in the Korean Zen lineage of Zen Master Seung Sahn and became a Dharma Teacher in 2015 at Blue Heron Zen Community in Seattle. In 2023, he received Inka — initial transmission and koan teaching authority — from Zen Master Jeong Ji Anita Feng.
In 2025, he started Tech Community Zen, an online sangha for practitioners to practice together with others in the technology community.
Alongside Zen, Chris is a clinical psychologist who worked in user experience research for 24 years at Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. In his industry career, he published several technical books including R for Marketing Research and Analytics (2nd ed. 2019), which has been used as a textbook in more than 150 universities. Today he leads the nonprofit Quant UX Association, which offers training courses and a large annual conference for research professionals.
