    Major Responsibilities

  • Ensures that grains, staple food, spices, tea, coffee, and sesshin foods are stocked in Kannon Do’s kitchen as needed.

    Job Details

  • Grains used at Kannon Do include brown and white rice, basmati rice, bulgur wheat, couscous, nine grain cereal, oatmeal, polenta, millet and wild rice. Brown rice is the most frequently used.
  • Coffee and tea (black, decaf, herbal) should be purchased as needed. Loose tea is preferred to tea bags (economy and ecology).
  • Consults with the Sesshin Coordinator or Tenzo before each sesshin to find out what special foods may be needed.
