Buddhist scholar Paula Arai, professor of religious studies at Louisiana State University, will be Kannon Do’s guest teacher on Wednesday May 6.

Paula spent several years in Japan living and working with Japanese women  to learn how they utilize rituals to affect healing in their lives.

The results of her research were published in her 2011 book, Bringing Zen Home.

The subject of her talk will be Painting Enlightenment: The Art and Science of the Heart Sutra

Explore what the universe looks like through the lens of the Heart Sutra while viewing paintings by a Japanese biologist who depicted the resonance he saw between scientific and Buddhist visions of reality.
