On Wednesday evening, June 19th,  Michael Uhila will give an in-person Dharma talk followed by a discussion.

Michael Uhila is a Buddhist practitioner, a television producer, and a musician.

He was born at Stanford Hospital in California. His mother is from the island nation of Samoa, and his father is from the Kingdom of Tonga, an island country in Polynesia.

He first came to Kannon Do in 2012. He has studied with Kannon Do’s teacher, Les Kaye, Roshi Grace at Stanford University, Zen teacher Rebecca Nie, and Pema Chödron, among other teachers. He spent a year at Gampo Abbey, a Buddhist monastery in the Shambala tradition located in Nova Scotia, Canada, and practiced there under the guidance of Pema Chödron. His Tibetan Buddhist name is Tsultrin Pawo, Discipline Warrior.

Michael plays with his band around the Bay Area. His short film Auditions for Master Chan was selected at Cannes in 2021.

Michael says meditation of all styles has helped him with challenges in his life, including the depression he was diagnosed with in 2011.
