Film Showing: The Dhamma Brothers

It is almost time for the second film! We will be in the Zendo on May 9th at 10:30 am with another film.
We want to see films together that have relevance to our practice. Our first film, Ikiru, provoked some lively conversation. We will leave time for discussion again. Your perspectives are really special part of these events.
The Dhamma Brothers is a documentary from 2008 that chronicles a 2002 ten day Vipassana retreat in an unlikely venue: inmates serving life sentences in Donaldson Correctional Facility, Alabama’s maximum security prison. This is Eastern Meditation (sometimes uncomfortably) imported into the Bible Belt. Life caught up with these men years ago, yet the participants in the retreat are visibly transformed by the experience. These men are interviewed before and after the retreat, and have profound insights to share. Dhamma Brothers runs 76 minutes.
