Please join us on Saturday July 6th at 10:45am for a “Buddhism in Society” talk and discussion about homelessness and community chaplaincy with Jackie Hider. A former community college instructor in San Diego, Jackie started practicing Zen at the San Diego Zen Center in 1996. She joined the Buddhist Chaplaincy Program at Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 2011 and was ordained as a chaplain in March 2013. She has been working as a volunteer chaplain for the last two years in the Tenderloin district in San Francisco. During her talk she will explain what a community chaplain does and how she is experiencing life in the Tenderloin.
