Garden Day

On Saturday April 4 we will be doing a general Garden Work Day, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. We'll be doing weeding, raking and pruning to keep our garden areas looking well cared for. If you can offer some of your time and effort, please come and join in!

Zen Mind Beginners Mind Discussion

Please come join us to discuss chapter 3 of the book immediately following Zazen. The Three topics are Mistakes in Practice, Limiting our  Activity, and Study Ourselves. Mistakes in Practice Poor ways of practice. Anyone care to share some poor ways to practice? What is idealistic practice? When you practice alone, what do you notice ?

Guest Speaker: Victor

Long time sangha member Victor will be giving a guest talk. From Victor: I just wanted to let you know of an upcoming dharma talk.  This will be on Wednesday, April 15th and will be given by me.

Oryoki Training Saturday April 18

With the occasion of the upcoming sesshin, training will be given at the Zendo by Victor Legge on Saturday April 18, 2015, 10:30 AM Sharp. Oryoki is a formal, communal eating style.  It uses a set of bowls and utensils, kept together in a wrapping cloth, known as oryoki.

Monthly Sangha Meeting

Dear Sangha members, Please join us this coming Saturday April 18th at Kannon-Do for our regular monthly sangha meeting beginning at 10:30. This monthly meeting is how we take care of the various tasks around Kannondo.

Sesshin Saturday April 25

Dear Friends, On Saturday, April 25th 2015, Kannon Do will host a one-day meditation retreat, or Sesshin.

Introduction to Zen

Join us at 10:30 AM for an introduction to Zen meditation.  It's meant for people new to Zen meditation as well as practitioners with questions about their contemplative practice.  This informal get together is a recurring activity, the first Saturday of the month, and it lasts typically about 90 minutes.

Paula Arai Guest Lecture

Buddhist scholar Paula Arai, professor of religious studies at Louisiana State University, will be Kannon Do's guest teacher on Wednesday May 6. Paula spent several years in Japan living and working with Japanese women  to learn how they utilize rituals to affect healing in their lives.
