Join us at 10:30 AM for an introduction to Zen meditation. It's meant for people new to Zen meditation as well as practitioners with questions about their contemplative practice. This informal get together is a recurring activity, the first Saturday of the month, and it lasts typically about 90 minutes.
Buddhist scholar Paula Arai, professor of religious studies at Louisiana State University, will be Kannon Do's guest teacher on Wednesday May 6. Paula spent several years in Japan living and working with Japanese women to learn how they utilize rituals to affect healing in their lives.

Hello everyone, Our next Zen Mind discussion will be on Wednesday, May 13th, after evening meditation. The chapters we'll be discussing are: To Polish a Tile, Constancy, and Communication. Dear Sangha members, Please join us this coming Saturday, May 16th at Kannon Do for our regular monthly sangha meeting, beginning at 10:30. The sangha meeting is how we take care of the various tasks that sustain our practice at Kannon Do.
Misha Merrill, early member of Kannon Do, and student and dharma heir to our abbot, Les Kaye, will be our guest speaker.
We'll meet in the courtyard and concentrate on weeding in the front and courtyard areas first. If time and personnel allow, we'll also do some weeding in the back garden area. Weeding tools and some gloves are available, but you can bring your own gloves if you prefer.
Oryoki (eating meals in Monastic Style) Training will be given by Victor Legge on Saturday June 6th, 2015, 10:30 AM Sharp prior to the Sesshin (One Day Retreat) on June 13.
