Guest Speaker: Misha Merrill

Kannon Do’s guest speaker on Wednesday, September 28, will be Misha Merrill.  Misha was the first Zen student to be ordained by Les.  He gave her Dharma Transmission (permission to teach) in 1998.  She now leads the Zen Heart Sangha group in Redwood City.

Oryoki Training

If you plan on attending Sesshin on October 8th please join Victor Legge for Oryoki training on October 1st at 10:30 a.m. Oryoki is the traditional way that Japanese monks eat their food in monasteries.  At Sesshin 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) will be eaten Oryoki style.  Victor's teaching style is fun and informative.

Intro to Zen

Join us at 10:30 AM for an Introduction to Zen on October 1st.  This orientation is intended primarily for individuals  new to Zen practice,  as well as experienced practitioners who have  questions about their contemplative practice.  This informal get together takes place on the first Saturday of the month,  lasting  about 90 minutes.

Sesshin

Kannon Do will host a one-day meditation retreat, or Sesshin on October 8th. This day of mindfulness offers a rare opportunity to turn our awareness to the simple activities that sustain our lives, and that we normally take for granted: breathing, walking, eating, being attentive to the workings of our mind.

Sangha Meeting and Potluck

Please join us for the Sangha meeting held in the Sangha house at 10: 30 a.m. on October 15th.  Everyone is welcome.

Holiday Season Pajama Drive

Kannon Do Zen Center together with Community Service Agency of Mountain View/Los Altos is participating in the Holiday Season Pajama Drive for children (ages 8-12 years).
