Kannon Do Fall Workshops with Marcia Lieberman

Please join us on Saturday, November 3rd at 10:30 a.m. for a Dharma talk and a sound and chanting workshop by long-term Buddhist practitioner and artist Marcia Lieberman. During the “Sound in Zen Practice” workshop Marcia will explore sound in the zendo and lead participants in a session of group chanting.

Intro to Zen

Please join us at 10:30 AM for an Introduction to Zen on Saturday, November 24th.  This orientation is intended primarily for individuals  new to Zen practice,  as well as experienced practitioners who have  questions about their contemplative practice.  This informal get together takes place on the first Saturday of the month,  lasting  about 90 minutes.

Movie Night: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter….and Spring

Please join us on Tuesday, November 27th at 6:00 p.m. for a screening of the 2003 movie Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter....and Spring or Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom (the original title, running time: 125 minutes).  It is an award-winning film directed by South Korean film director Ki-duk-Kim.

Guest Speaker: Eric Remington

Please join us for Eric Remington's Dharma talk after zazen on Wednesday, November 28th.  Eric is a resident at Jikoji Temple and an early student of Kobun, Jikoji's Founder, in the early 1970s.

Oryoki Training

If you plan on attending Sesshin on December 8th please join Umar Q. for Oryoki training on Saturday,  December 1st at 10:20 a.m.  Oryoki is the traditional way that Japanese monks eat their food in monasteries.

Annual Temple Cleaning

Carrying on the centuries-old tradition of Chinese and Japanese Zen monasteries and temples, Kannon Do will hold its annual Temple Cleaning Day on December 1, starting at 10:30. Tasks will include items not normally included in our weekly work periods, such as washing windows and vacuuming behind the sitting platforms (tans).
