Oryoki Training

If you plan on attending Sesshin on February 11th please join an experienced practitioner  for Oryoki training on February 4th at 10:30 a.m.  Oryoki is the traditional way that Japanese monks eat their food in monasteries.  At Sesshin 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) will be eaten Oryoki style.  The teaching style is fun and informative.

Intro to Zen

Join us at 10:30 AM for an Introduction to Zen on February 4th.  This orientation is intended primarily for individuals  new to Zen practice,  as well as experienced practitioners who have  questions about their contemplative practice.  This informal get together takes place on the first Saturday of the month,  lasting  about 90 minutes.

Sesshin

Kannon Do will host a one-day meditation retreat, or Sesshin on February 11th. This day of mindfulness offers a rare opportunity to turn our awareness to the simple activities that sustain our lives, and that we normally take for granted: breathing, walking, eating, being attentive to the workings of our mind.

Sangha Meeting and Potluck

Please join us for the Sangha meeting held in the Sangha house at 10: 30 a.m. on February 18th .  Everyone is welcome.

Buddhism in Society Discussion Series with Troy Williams

We are delighted to announce the beginning of a new discussion series at Kannon Do about “Buddhism in Society.” The first speaker in our series will be Troy Williams. He will join us on Saturday February 25th at 10:30am for a conversation about his life, work and Buddhist practice.

Garden Day & Annual Clean Up

Tasks include preparing the planter box for the children’s vegetable garden, pull weeds, remove brush, and get the property ready for spring.
