Kannon Do will host a one-day meditation retreat, or Sesshin on Saturday, June 8th. This day of mindfulness offers a rare opportunity to turn our awareness to the simple activities that sustain our lives, and that we normally take for granted: breathing, walking, eating, being attentive to the workings of our mind.
Please join Megan and Lee for a garden work day at Kannon Do on Saturday, June 15 from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Gardening tools and gloves will be supplied. Please come and help us maintain the garden and landscaping. No experience is needed, just willing hands. Tea, water, and cookies will be provided.

Please join us for a discussion of Chapter 6 of Suzuki Roshi's book "Branching Streams Flow in the Darkness: Zen Talks on the Sandokai" after zazen on Wednesday, June 19th, at 8 p.m. led by Bonnie Sarmiento. Instead of a Lecture we are discussing one chapter of the book each 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Please join us at 10:30 AM for an Introduction to Zen on Saturday, June 22nd. This orientation is intended primarily for individuals new to Zen practice, as well as experienced practitioners who have questions about their contemplative practice. This informal get together takes place on the fourth Saturday of the month, lasting about 90 minutes.
Please join us on Wednesday, June 26th at 8 p.m. after zazen for Isabelle Johansen's Dharma talk. Isabelle and her family are relocating to Seattle in July. During her Dharma talk Isabelle will share her experiences of Zen practice and what she has gained from being part of the Kannon Do community.
Please join us on Saturday July 6th at 10:45am for a "Buddhism in Society" talk and discussion about homelessness and community chaplaincy with Jackie Hider. A former community college instructor in San Diego, Jackie started practicing Zen at the San Diego Zen Center in 1996.
Please join us for Teresa's Dharma talk at 8 p.m. after zazen on Wednesday, July 10th. Teresa has been practicing at Kannon Do for several years and received priest ordination from our Abbott and teacher Les Kaye in 2018.
Please join us on Sunday July 14th from 1 p.m. to 2: 30 p.m. for a Meditation in Life discussion led by Columbine Robinson in our Kannon Do Garden. We will discuss how meditation can help us approach situations without biases.
