Garden Day

Please join us on Saturday,  April 6th at 10:30 a.m. for  Garden Day.  It will include an hour or so of weeding, pruning, and general clean-up.  Feel free to bring children and friends too.

Oryoki Training

If you plan on attending Sesshin on February 9th please join Ken Simpson for Oryoki training on Friday, April 12th at 6 p.m.  Oryoki is the traditional way that Japanese monks eat their food in monasteries.

One Day Meditation Retreat (Sesshin)

Kannon Do will host a one-day meditation retreat, or Sesshin on Saturday, April 13th. This day of mindfulness offers a rare opportunity to turn our awareness to the simple activities that sustain our lives, and that we normally take for granted: breathing, walking, eating, being attentive to the workings of our mind.

Sangha Meeting

Please join us for the Sangha meeting held in the Sangha house at 10: 30 a.m. on April 20th.  Everyone is welcome.

Intro to Zen

Please join us at 10:30 AM for an Introduction to Zen on Saturday,  April 27th.  This orientation is intended primarily for individuals  new to Zen practice,  as well as experienced practitioners who have  questions about their contemplative practice.  This informal get together takes place on the first Saturday of the month,  lasting  about 90 minutes.

Guest Speaker: Elizabeth Orr

Please join is on Wednesday, May 1st at 8 p.m. after zazen for Elizabeth Orr's Dharma talk INTO THE LIGHT: An Invitation to Elysian Beauty.  Elizabeth will be presenting a photographic essay based on a near-death experience which transcended into a garden.

Garden Day

Please join Megan and Lee Saturday May 4 as we'll be doing a garden work day. The beautiful spring weather has resulted in many flowers, but also plenty of weeds! We'll meet in the courtyard at 10:30.

Guest Speaker: Kathy Early

On Wednesday evening, May 8, our guest speaker will be Shōku Kathy Early. Kathy began sitting zazen daily in 1994 while working as a semiconductor engineer in Silicon Valley.

Meditation in Life: What does it mean to be a Buddhist?

Please join us on Saturday, May 11th, at 10: 30 a.m. for a discussion on "What does it mean to be a Buddhist?"  The discussion will be led by Brenda Golianu, a long- time member of Kannon Do with extensive practice experience.
